Client - Global Affairs
Context: Prime minister travel manager
Initial Scope
The Office of Protocol of the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada reached out to JamesWDH in hopes to improve the time spent while working on various spreadsheets, the efficiency of use, accountability of data and its ability to be used for a team.
Currently, the main spreadsheet used by the Office of Protocol of the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada is in need of a refresh. Unfortunately, the current file cannot be salvaged. A new one will be created in its place to track the information more efficiently and following better Excel practices.
Project Notes
A tool was built to help save enormous amounts of time for officers in charge of the prime minister's travel!
The dashboard tool helped the user produce 3 clear things :
-
Input information related to hotels, flights, room costs, passenger details as well as booking details related to rooms, dates.
-
Output 5 different types of reports related to: Costs, Hotel rooms used, Group details, total night details and the passenger information dashboard!
-
Create a global view dashboard detailing all of the information in one clear and precise table that can be sorted, filtered and modified with inbuilt settings.
After 4 good waves of correction and 1 year of work, the file was completed and the scope was fully achieved. Needless to say, the officers using this file are now faster, more efficient and highly accountable for their spending!
